      Yeah, I'm not a fan. It's uncanny valley for me. I'm not the target audience for this movie, but I don't understand the choice.

        I suspect 99.9% of Tildes users aren't in the target demographic for this movie. And I'll bet that the target demographic probably cares a lot less about the way he looks than we do.

          Can confirm. My 6yo nephew got super excited and only had positive things to say when I showed him the teaser, since he absolutely loves Clifford.

          1000% true! I feel like I've also read something about how kids these days (heh) will be more used to / expectant of this sort of hyper-realistic rendering effect. I mean, in my day, cartoons were .. cartoony because they couldn't afford photorealism, or it didn't exist -- but nowadays, it's the style b/c it's possible.

            Thats a good point. Previous generations were used to the cartoony style because that's all that was technically possible on a lower budget. It isn't until pretty recently that smaller films...

            Thats a good point. Previous generations were used to the cartoony style because that's all that was technically possible on a lower budget. It isn't until pretty recently that smaller films (i.e., non-tenpole releases) could afford realistic CGI. They always had subpar CGI.
