Considering how the movieplex chains snuffed out most small cinemas, I don't think I'll be shedding a tear for them. How's that ruthless capitalism working for you guys?

In Brazil, bankrupt cinemas outside of shopping malls are usually occupied by neo-pentecostal churches. I don’t think they create many jobs.
One difference about my city in particular is that we do have a local chain of alternative movie theaters, as well as a venue operated by the state (mostly art films and festivals. You can exhibit your own movies too — I have more than once) and another funded by a large bank. They thrived before COVID, despite a strong presence of large corporations.

They can carry the horror genre.
