The new Meshuggah album Immutable is pretty solid. It feels very groove-forward, a lot more chugging. I never paid much attention to what Dick Lövgren was doing in the mix, but because of the more chuggy nature of this album you can really hear it, and it adds this extra depth to it, and you can really feel when they drop his part in songs like Ligature.

A new Rammstein single, "ZickZack," dropped, and it's pretty good. They're leaning on a sound they're very experienced with, that dancey straight power-chord vibe, but it's entertaining (even if I need it mostly translated).

Been checking out some XTC! Spotify threw Mayor of Simpleton in my discovery playlist and I immediately loved it. I went ahead and checked out the rest of the album it's off of (Oranges & Lemons)...

Been checking out some XTC! Spotify threw Mayor of Simpleton in my discovery playlist and I immediately loved it. I went ahead and checked out the rest of the album it's off of (Oranges & Lemons) and I gotta say - wow! Such a delightful album with great hooks and lots of unexpected directions. XTC seem to have this habit of playing oddball chords when you least expect it. Scarecrow People is a great example of that. I love the range of sounds on the album. It makes for an eclectic ride!

Trying to check out their other stuff but honestly after checking out Skylarking, Nonsuch, and Drums & Wires, only a few songs off the latter album stuck with me. I'm gonna keep listening but I'm thinking I may just need to be in the right mood.
