I've never really loved pop before. But in recent-ish times I've been digging into Hyperpop... and really, really liking it. It's unapologetically brash, bright, dazzling, fun, sexual, and pushing the boundaries of genre miscegenation. It's like viewing an early 2000's MySpace page flashing with GIFs through VR goggles in your ears.

    Albums
    Crash by Charli XCX.
Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides by Sophie.
    Slut Pop by Kim Petras.

Some selected songs for your listening pleasure
It's Okay To Cry by Sophie sounds like you're flying through a dense, cold cloud of tears. You pierce it and emerge in a sunlit blue sky covered in droplets.

Sweat by SONIKKU, remixed by Sophie sounds like you're dancing in a dark nightclub full of shirtless people, club lights flashing and intermittently cutting through the dark. The atmosphere is humid with sweat. Sweat condensing on the ceilings and walls, dripping down on you.

Lightning by Charli XCX starts with the smell of petrichor and feeling of coolness of a drizzling gray day, then suddenly lightning violently strikes and tears the sky open.

Nothing of particular note from Kim Petras' album. It's just fun and totally unserious. Also totally not workplace-appropriate music. :p

I've been on a hardcore kick these past few weeks, probably linked to my stress, no regrets there.

    Square Resort: Hyper Senshasen

    Rall III: Kakusei-hen

War-Torn Versnag is interesting because it's a collaboration between Umemoto and someone I've never heard of before. There were a lot of surprising twists that are very much not like what Umemoto would compose by himself.

I haven't had the chance to listen to Desire: Haitoku no Rasen yet.

Edit: And now VGMRips is down. We did it, Tildes!
