I have been enjoying the kinda pathetic and salty comments from people that don't like the disconnect from overall winner vs people's choice.
Though there probably should be some people's choice award handed out to acknowledge the difference between jury and televoting. Probably better that way than scrapping juries.
The (hopefully fun) conspiracy of rigging by juries to ensure some ESC '74 50th anniversary ABBA special next year are funny.
A nice historical rhyme in the two concerts. UK hosted on behalf of [Luxembourg, Ukraine] because the winning country refused/couldn't because reasons; with Sweden winning.
Man, Germany got done dirty. So did the UK a bit. I enjoy the traditional mild squabbling over how the jury's vote was influenced by politics - this year's theme being "Sorry, Sweden - NATO soon!"
The UK and Germany's lyrics were a bit simplistic, but the latter ironically did a great cover of Cha Cha Cha. As for Australia...wow! Come back anytime, boys!
Also, I love how androgynous Eurovision lets everyone be with their style.
Every year that Australia is in the competition, they always show off that they 100% understand the brief: camp, ridiculous, and entertaining. They had me worried that the keytar was just going to stay on the passenger seat, though!
It's really rare that my favorite songs win Eurovision. Last year's winner, Stefania by Kalush Orchestra (which I still regularly watch the music video for) was an exception. And Tattoo winning this year is another. "All I care about is you-OO-oo, you're stuck on me like a tattoo-OO-oo" still pops into my head at least once a week! :P
It's a real earworm, that's for sure!
Just a request for future posts like this: could you not put the winner in the title? Not everyone can watch events live so common courtesy would be to avoid spoilers in post titles.
