Hot off my Nine Inch Nails's keystone discography, my current "listening-to" is something I stumbled on completely by accident. I work in a library, for context, and I have the privilege of checking in holds that people from all over funnel into our holds shelve. One such hold was "Squarepusher - Dostrotime", and when I first saw it, I thought the cover was an accidental misprint from acquisitions down at central office, so...I end up doing a lookup on Discogs and, yeah. The cover just kinda looks like that. I was thinking it's some kinda Master Boot Record derivative, and knowing of MBR, I decide to look at ol' SP's disco-graphy from the beginning...and was not prepared at all. Feed Me Weird Things is titular, no wonder it's so acclaimed. Right now, the album I'm currently on is "Do You Know Squarepusher".
Squarepusher's current sound started with his album Ufuabulum back in 2012 but he has a ton of different phases. I got on board in the late 00s with his 90s stuff coming from an interest in jungle but everything the man touches is phenomenal.
Got to see Squarepusher live in 2004, running the laptop and keyboards with a bass guitar around his neck. THIS kind of vibe. Pretty intense show. I'm a big fan of that era and earlier of his.
While I haven’t listened to a lot of Squarepusher I did recognize this right away, but had to look up the song. The song Tommib is on the soundtrack of one of my all time favourite movies - Lost in Translation.
My friend Chet O'Keefe is in town for a couple weeks and I've gotten to enjoy what will be three shows of his as of tomorrow, before he leaves again to head back up north. The two shows so far have been wildly different and each fantastic, and I'm sure tomorrow's will be just as satisfying. Good music is good. Good live music is even better.

I've been mainlining Wheezer for the last two weeks. Not sure why I suddenly got so into them. I was listening to the Blue Album to mix it up a bit and there was just something about the sound, the lyrics, the simiplicity of it all, with great guitar work that made it work, and I've been slowly digesting their discography. Currently I'm listening to the Green Album a lot to pick it apart.
