I'm enjoying Brandon Flowers new country album THRASHER!
I don't really listen to country music and this album is not super heavy country sounding but has the country flairs and some songs can hear more of the southern accent. I enjoyed the killers Pressure Machine a lot and see this album as an extension to that.

I'm going to a Foo Fighters show in a couple weeks and they went and changed the opening band so I've been trying to familiarize myself a bit with Mannequin Pussy. I've only heard a handful of tracks so far but sonically it sounds very similar to earlier Foo Fighters which is an interesting choice to pick a supporting act that sounds just like you.

I have a love/hate relationship with CCR. I loved them, but for far too long, so long that now I can't really listen anymore, even though I still love them.
I'm re-listening to Manson's Antichrist Superstar, it aged like fine wine.
Agonanist - The Spirit of Gravity
Unsettling, dark, and dissonant death/black. A similar true eeriness that reminds me of Emptiness (the band), or That Work Which Transforms God by Blut Aus Nord. Where it's uncomfortable to listen to, but in a good way (similar to how harsh noise affects me sometimes, or really fucked up industrial stuff).
No Cure - The Commitment to Permanence (among other records)
Extremely heavy angry/despairing straight edge hardcore
Crypt Sermon - The Stygian Rose
Traditional heavy metal / doom, with a darker overall atmosphere, this time around with a touch of grunge influence/edge to it too. Probably one of my favorite heavy/doom releases of the last decade, period. Check out the song Scrying Orb, especially! So catchy...
Hermetic Subjugator - Transmutational Ethos
black/death/noise featuring drummer of Cerebral Curse
Cerebral Curse - Abominant Incarnations of Sepulchral Depths
Absolutely sick death/doom in the filthy-grimy-underground-crypt style (like Fossilization, etc)

Nasty high-energy death/black!
Piss Vortex - Future Cancer
Jazzy, mathy, experimental grindcore/hardcore. Sorta Dillinger Escape Plan + BTBAM + whatever else

Hectic death metal that meanders all over the place (complimentary)
You always deliver the goods in these threads, some sick recommendations! The Agonanist one kicks off so oppressively but opens up beautifully as it develops., while Cerebral Curse just straight up brings the filth. I love that Crypt Sermon album, one of my recent faves too.
Thanks! Much appreciated. Yeah, for me, The Stygian Rose in particular connected with me at a level that band never had before, though I understand some other metal fans prefer their earlier work. It just feels basically like a perfect record to me, and it's more a visceral feeling than being able to even explain why, it's just a sublime listening experience and does everything I would want it to do. That slight tint of grunge / edge adds something that I now feel is missing when I go back to the earlier ones
Similar to Worm, it was the first album I heard by them and it just landed perfectly so I'm stuck measuring their previous output by that standard. Don't get me wrong, I did very much enjoy their previous album, Ruins of the Fading Light, and the EP from last year, its just that Stygian Rose tends to get the first spin when I'm feeling the mood for their particular brand of epic doom. Same goes for The Vision Bleak, Weird Tales blew me away when I heard it though they've been releasing some top-notch 'horror metal' since day one.
Ninajirachi - iPod Touch (Madeon Remix)
The only new release I've listened to this week is Denzel Curry's second collaboration with Kenneth Blume (fka Kenny Beats). It's short and fun with some excellent use of samples.
Beyond that I've been revisiting some of Weyes Blood's earlier albums since she's been teasing something new likely just weeks away.

Ive been listening to Funky Disk by Skule Toyama.
Toyama is always good for repetitive music, if thats what youd call it. Where you start with a simple melodic pattern and keep layering in new instrument patterns as the song goes on.
The technique of masking the audio and revealing more of it as time goes on is interesting.
The vocalist doesn't seem to be a very established musician, but I think she did a good job.
Pretty good track, good for background music while Im doing other things.
For some reason I’ve had Doja Cat’s Vue on loop. Good record. I don’t listen to a lot of pop… and I’m very particular, but this record is a no skips
Muse released a new album on June 26th, "The Wow! Signal". For an old Muse listener, this is just honey to my ears. It's like an amalgamation of everything that's great about the band.
The last couple weeks have been pretty awesome for new music for my listening sphere.
Ferrin - Bobby and the Flaming Stone. Ferrin's debut album and it has just been on repeat for me - some stellar musicianship and great songwriting. LIYL Indie rock with lots of jazzy influence - mostly clean guitar tones and saxophone and lyrics about Joan of Arc. They are playing an album release show at the Velour on Saturday if anyone happens to be in Provo Utah this week!
Other stuff I've had in rotation:
Turnstile - NEVER ENOUGH: VERSIONS. A remix/reimagined version of their newest album with contributions from an insane list of contributors including Slayyyter, Dan Deacon, Elton John, AG Cook, and Hayley Williams. This has also gotten me to go back into Dan Deacon's catalogue, I hadn't realized he's done so many soundtracks recently!
Wild Pink - Still Coming Down. This just came out last week and has re-ignited my enjoyment of the band after not being able to get into their last few records (although those were critically acclaimed and seemed well received by the rest of the fans).
Sylvan Esso - On & On (Single). This one got me so hyped for their new album expected out in 2 weeks. Exactly what I want from this band with a mix of live instrumentation, glitchy electronic production, and pure ear worm vocals.
Onward by Lammoth (https://lammothofficial.bandcamp.com/album/onward), new artist to me. This album is about the journey of Bill, Sam’s faithful Pony from LOTR. It’s a chiptune metal album.
Russian Circles just released a new album: Nine
Been loving the heck out of it

If you haven’t heard them yet, they’re Chicago based and do heavy industrial post rock.
These are both a blast! Russian Circles reminds me of Caspian but sludgier which I love.

Czarface meets Frankie Pullitzer is probably going to be heavy in my rotation right now. Just dropped the 28th, I believe. For those who don't know, Czarface is Inspectah Deck from Wu Tang, and Esoteric & 7L from Boston. Together, they've been dropping solid stuff since 2013. At some point they somehow got Tom Hardy wrapped up in the project as "Facepuller" aka "Frankie Pullitzer" (as he's credited currently).
Mad Technology is a standout, especially with the addition of Method Man, is a great one from the album, but the whole thing is solid. We get a strange interlude of Frankie Reciting the opening soliloquy of Richard III (I'm uncultured enough that I needed to look it up). For me it would've been enough to get a new Czarface album, but having a full collab with Frankie Pullitzer just sweetens the deal for me.
I've been on a 90s high school nostalgia kick and have been listening to basically just KMFDM.
Angst, Money, Nihil, XTORT, Symbols
I've never ventured further into the discography after Symbols. Does anyone know if anything after still brings the goods?
