The group "VEDAN KOLOD" was formed 10 years ago in Siberia in the city of Krasnoyarsk.
"VEDAN KOLOD" is the only group in Russia playing World Music based on the musical culture of Medieval Russia. The group's repertoire consists of Russian popular songs (including Siberian settlers), as well as author songs that reproduce very old Russian texts. Instrumental music and vocal traditions intermingle closely. Often instrumental compositions are accompanied by Jew's harp or throat singing.
Most of the instruments are made by the master Valery Naryshkin himself. Some are unique examples, such as the Slavic military horn, the Scythian horn, the Russian bagpipe, the jaleïka (Russian folk wind instrument), the whistle, the wheeled lyre etc.
"VEDAN KOLOD" tours a lot in Russia (more than 800 concerts a year) and has already participated in international festivals in Germany, Macedonia, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Hungary, the Netherlands, Slovakia, in Poland, Austria, France, Malaysia etc.
Since its creation, the group has released 6 albums and 3 international collections of folk music.
