I'm mostly surprised that there are Phish fans who care enough about the RR HoF for this article to be written.
I'm not a Phish fan, but I can't deny how monumental their body of work is, or how immense their impact has been. As hollow of a gesture as it is, I think they deserve inclusion in the RR HoF.
Oh I definitely agree, I talked a bit in another thread about their impact... But if Lou Reed had to fuckin' die before getting inducted, Phish isn't getting there anytime soon lol. Doesn't bother me in the slightest though. I'll just be at the Gorge seeing Phish tonight
Yeah, I'm of the same mind you are. I'm not a huge fan of theirs either, but I like a couple of the early albums and have nothing but respect for their chops, their huge catalog of songs and their ability to jam on anything. They are undeniably great at what they do and hugely influential. To me they're a no-brainer for the Hall of Fame.
Unfortunately, the Hall of Fame in its current state is about rewarding record sales more so than influence.
Does Phish or any of their fans actually care about this? Does a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Michael Jackson in it even matter?
