I absolutely adore Ben Gibbard and Death Cab. I was a bit disappointed when I first saw this was just a solo performance, especially with Death Cab's latest album released only a few months ago. However after listening to it I am not disappointed any longer. This purely acoustic solo set was truly magical IMO. There is something so clean. pure and beautiful about just an acoustic guitar and Ben's unique voice. I can definitely see myself going back to this performance many times in the coming years.

Ben's fantastic solo! I wish the new album would have clicked with me a bit better, though. It's missing Walla hard, in my opinion.

Oh, no doubt.. the live, hour long, fan request concert he put on at KEXP a few months ago (which these songs I just posted were recorded during) was fantastic too. But when I saw a new KEXP...

But when I saw a new KEXP notification with his name in it months after that previous concert, I had hoped it would be with Death Cab this time. :(

I liked the new album but it definitely didn't hit me quite as hard as their previous albums either. But Kintsugi was an absolute masterpiece so IMO anything that came after it, regardless of if all the same band members were involved, was inevitably going to be seen as lesser.
