What have you been listening to this week?
What have you been listening to this week? You don't need to do a 6000 word review if you don't want to, but please write something! If you've just picked up some music, please update on that as well, we'd love to see your hauls :)
Feel free to give recs or discuss anything about each others' listening habits.
You can make a chart if you use last.fm:

Remember that linking directly to your image will update with your future listening, make sure to reupload to somewhere like imgur if you'd like it to remain what you have at the time of posting.
Started listening to Gojira and Soen, something I should've done years ago but I never had "time" for it.
Spiced it up with some Hevy Dev and Zeal and Ardor, the latter of which I saw live last week and was really impressed by. Also saw the Norwegian Shining the same day which I used to love but sadly they've commercialized, ditched the bits that made them good and are also serially ripping off Muse for some reason. Big disappointment.
Started listening to some good 'ol Emperor today, I love that hyperactive black metal dude.
Here's my chart of past 7 days, doesn't include mobile device plays, only desktop.
edit: if anyone knows any more Gojira/Meshuggah-like bands (aka heavy as hell and proggy as fuck), please let me know! I love that stuff, the weirder the better.
Haken and BTBAM l already knew(and highly recommend the latter live, they're fantastic). I'll check the others you suggested, thanks!
Check out Vektor's Terminal Redux. I guarentee it will jive with you. It's like Progressive/Technical/Thrash if I had to try to pigeonhole it. That being said, all three of their albums are stellar and you should check out the others if you like the one I recommended.

As far as weird prog metal I don't think anyone does it better than Sigh.

If you somehow missed it, Cryptopsy's None So Vile sounds like something you'd be into.

You probably already know Animals as Leaders but if not check them out. Tosin Abasi is insane.
Yep, that's my go-to focus music. Hyperactive complex music works wonders with adhd somehow.
Pretty much the same as last week:
Phantastic Ferniture: Phantastic Ferniture
Great indie rock, female vocals. Good stuff
The Marias: Superclean Vol. 1 and Vol. 2
Just discovered them, can't decided which album I prefer. If you like lounge/funk/dreamy goodness, you'll like this.
Laurel: DOGVIOLET
I've seen this described as "chamber pop". Sure, whatever it is I love it.
The Beths: Future Me Hates Me
The energy is carried throughout the entire album. It's indie pop/rock, can't go wrong.
No Vacation: Intermission and Amo XO
Dream indie pop rock with some surf vibes here and there.
Seeing your taste, I can suggest some other bands that you may not know :
Tops
Ariel Pink
Hajk
Stats
Yuba Diamond
Gulp
Middle Kids
Midnight Sister
I've been listening to the Mirror's Edge: Catalyst soundtrack while working. And when I'm feeling really excited I put on What's Up Danger by Blackway ;)
Solar Fields (who did the soundtracks for the Mirror's Edge games) is excellent "work music". Make sure to check out his non-soundtrack albums too, they're very good as well.
Yes! Thanks for reminding me to check the other albums out again. ME:C is the first game I worked on at my current employer and I have a sense of nostalgia about the entire project, especially the music and audio design.
Bandcamp found my email back somehow and they are sending me recommendations again, I've been listening to this a lot, it's super good. Curious to hear the full album:

Prophets of Rage!
From Wikipedia:
Prophets of Rage is an American rap rock supergroup. Formed in 2016, the group consists of three members of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave (bassist and backing vocalist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello, and drummer Brad Wilk), two members of Public Enemy (DJ Lord and rapper Chuck D), and rapper B-Real of Cypress Hill.
New Czarface vs. Ghostface album came out just last week I want to say. I listened to most of it the other night and really enjoyed. I've been an esoteric fan for a long time and he seems to get better with every release. It's been fun watching him progress over the years. He's an endless stream of punchlines I love it. I was also just listening to Kvelertak wondering if they'd put out a new album soon. 1st album was 2010, 2nd 2013, and 3rd 2016. Now I'm no patternologist but I'd say they put out a new album in whatever year 2016 plus 3 is.
Started listening to The Front Bottoms, really like all of their albums I have listened to so far!
Right now I've been on a Ghost kick, other than that it's been my regular electro swing, edm, and j-rock.
Be Fearless And Play by Wookiefoot
Here are my top three songs:
Be Fearless And Play
All Together
Home Free
Moonsorrow - Jumalten Aika
I listened to a lot of Pinegrove because I got to see them last week. They were absolutely fantastic live.
I listened to a lot of frank ocean and the new Hozier album slaps!
I found this band, Summer Salt and they are super chill.
I also keep coming back to Chuck Bass D's seminal album
Not music - but I'm listening to The Glass Cannon Podcast which is hilarious.
