Brass Against is great! I think my all-time favourite cover that they do is probably War Pigs ft. Maya Azucena, but just about everything that they put out is a good listen, and fits nicely into the genre of "covers that have something important changed", which is probably my current favourite genre of music, like Leo Morrachioli from Frog Leap Studios.

And so am now going through Brass Against's entire catalog as this is just wonderful. Have your suggestion queued up next, thank you both.

I'm not sure why I love genrebending but I almost always find it delightful.

I enjoy the genderbending because when it's done well, it is done phenomenally well. Another genderbent favorite is Britney Spears' Toxic covered by A Static Lullaby, both for the cross-genre, pop, and genderbending that tick so many boxes for me, but also because the lead singer looks incredibly similar to my recently deceased cousin during his band days and it just makes me miss him so very much. I have videos of him playing of course, but none are shot like a music video, just the usual band-on-a-stage local show stuff, and so I can't really see him.

Edit: Apologies, that took a turn because of my emotions of losing the only cousin the same age as me, the best friend I grew up with, and the final connection I had to that side of the family.

            Apologies,

You never have to apologize for having feelings about departed friends and family. I understand, and I'm sorry for your loss - videos don't plug that hole in your heart. Music is one of the things that have always helped rebuild the broken pieces of myself that I have to keep carrying, so hopefully that's the same for you, and hopefully listening to your playlist helps.

That's a great Spears cover - have you heard Ahmed and Dweezil Zappa's cover of Baby One More Time? I like that one a lot too.

I have not until now, excellent guitar additions in there! In another genderbend there's Ciara's cover of the Stones Paint it Black: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYPWxymohWs - I'll toss this on...

Wow, I've never seen anyone capture the power of Zack de la Rocha's vocals like that. Pretty much any RATM cover I've ever seen (short of maybe Richard Cheese's) has been embarrassing for that...

The whole brass thing is cool too, but the vocals here shine much brighter in my eyes. They'd probably sound even better if they weren't recorded like a squeaky clean Dream Theater track or something.
