What have you been listening to this week? You don't need to do a 6000 word review if you don't want to, but please write something! If you've just picked up some music, please update on that as well, we'd love to see your hauls :)

Feel free to give recs or discuss anything about each others' listening habits.

I made a playlist of some of my collection and called it Jazz In The Night. This was the name of a Jazz program on KANU FM (Lawrence) from about 45 years ago. Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Blue Note jazz and others, usually in a live setting. I added in some Marian McPartland duets with Lionel Hampton and others along with her old PBS program. This was back before FM had commercials.

Also listening to full orchestra music on Youtube, some pieces mentioned in novels by Murakami (Leoš Janáček's "Sinfonietta) , Enard (Song of the Night by Szymanowski), and others. There's a whole world of music out there that most people aren't aware of, from current indie back to traditional Shakahuchi (woodwind.)

The amount of knowledge that Murakami has on music is breathtaking. His website has a list of all the references in his books, Here

My favorite artist just released his new album, so I've been listening to that and probably will be listening to that for the foreseeable future. The artist is called Insaneintherainmusic, and he does jazz covers of video game music, which is a combination of both my favorite types of music! He's super talented and I love all of his stuff, definitely check him out if your into that sort of thing.

I've been listening to Meteor - Defender of the Fleet a bunch. It actually came out 7 months ago, but Google Music is terrible at keeping all of an artist's albums together, so it's under a separate "Meteor" than all of his other albums and I didn't see it until this week. It's a good synthwave-y guitar-y album and makes good working music.

Jakub Zytecki put out a new album last week as well, "Nothing Lasts, Nothing's Lost" (full album on his YouTube channel), and I've been listening to that quite a bit as well. He's a great guitarist, and there are some excellent songs on here.

In the process of looking for tracks I stumbled on that channel that has a lot of unknown gems.
