I just found out and I'm stoked! "Integrity Blues" was kind of the soundtrack of my life for the past year so I'm really excited to see where this one takes me!

I didn't realize Jimmy Eat World was still around and putting out music. The only album of theirs I have listened to is Bleed American, which I sought out after loving Sweetness from the NHL 2003 soundtrack. That was a damn good album though, so I should really check out some of their new stuff!

I'm always listening to VGMs, but this week has mostly been Yuurei-kun. One of these days I will need to come up with a playlist of best PSG tunes.

PSG: Programmable Sound Generator. It's a generic term for the General Instruments AY-3-8910 and its many clones. It's a sound chip capable of generating three channels of square waves and one channel of noise. A variation was used broadly across many computers, arcade games, toy keyboards, vending machines, etc. Fun fact: it's the chip powering Creative Labs' first audio product, the Game Blaster.

I have been listening to Among Authors debut album, I AM BECOME, on loop for the last few days. It's wonderfully ethereal, hauntingly beautiful, and I can't get enough of it. Their KEXP performance is still one of my absolutely favorites, too. They are supposedly working on their second album now, but their lead singer and keyboardist, Ian Ketterer, has pretty profound health issues (he had open heart surgery at 23) so it might be a while. Until it's done I am pretty satisfied listening to what they have already put out though. :)

My soundtrack for the week has been Between the Heart and the Synapse by The Receiving End of Sirens. IMO its a forgotten gem of the mid-2000's post-hardcore/emo with a good bit of prog influence. The layered vocals get me every time. I'm a real sucker for a song where there are multiple singers singing different things on top of each other.
