Edit: While typing this I felt like listening something completely different, so here's a bonus cheesy japanese synthpop song:
    Niwashi King by Susumu Hirasawa

Jakub Zytecki's music is similar to that of Plini but with a bit of David Maxim Micic mixed in.
For those who don't know those names, it's primarily lead guitar with some progrockish riffs thrown in. Maybe a bit indie-ish as well.
Usually partly electronic/synths and fairly upbeat.
For the record, I highly recommend the latter band- it's pretty weird, funny and just generally good background music.
    Here's one of his songs:
    Define by David Maxim Micic
It's prog metal-ish but with some Balkan/central Europe influences, really not something I've heard before.

Back on topic, here's my favorite from that album:
    Mandala

Obsidian Kingdom is a long-time favorite, and sadly they haven't really been active the past years. In terms of genre I'd say it's prog rock-ish. It's very melodic and quite emotion-inducing as well.
One of my favorites: Black Swan
It's got a slow and melancholic buildup, which transforms into a pretty euphoric section afterwards. And then back to the melancholy.

Amsterdam Klezmer Band is an odd one. I know them through a friend who keeps putting unexpectedly funny songs into playlists while at parties/while driving (another good example is the main tune of some Spanish TV programme that lasts 30 minutes).
If you don't expect it it's pretty funny, but I started listening it seriously and it's just pretty nice music. In Dutch we would call this "gezellig".

I could only find a live show for the song, but here you go: Gogol Mogol.
So far I've found that this kind of music makes just about anything fun; doing chores is suddenly a lot less annoying.

    Carpenter Brut / Perturbator
Now these suddenly have five albums in the list, and this is because I've been playing a lot of Factorio lately. It's just nice industrially dark-themed music to fit an industrial sort-of-dark-themed game.
These artists blend exactly what I like of both metal and electronic music: That crunchy/bassy sawtooth waveform sound that's very prominent in either band, something that's also very audible in metal songs, such as this solo bit from Moonsorrow's Pimeä.

    Some favorites of either artist:

    Turbo Killer - Carpenter Brut
    Disco Inferno - Perturbator.

And lastly, Ayreon; If you're into rock/metal operas and you don't know this one you're missing out.
It is technically a one-man project by the Dutch Arjen Lucassen, who writes songs and lyrics and plays guitar afaik. All vocals and instruments are instead performed by a large selection of artists, for example this album has 23 artists alone. Every vocalist generally plays a character in the story of the album, which overarches decades and is fairly fleshed out.
The Source includes artists such as Tommy Rogers (Between the Buried and Me), Hansi Kürsch(Blind Guardian), James LaBrie(Dream Theater) and many more (coincidentally my favorite vocalists on this one).

For the plot I'd like to refer to the wiki page on the plot as it's not something I can explain in three sentences.

Anyway, I highly recommend this if you're into science fiction / rock operas / vocal diversity :P

My favorite song from this album:
    Star of Sirrah
