Who are some of your local musicians that are really cool, but are relatively unknown to the world?

So recently YouTube recommended to me this young man. His dance moves captivated me and some of the songs got stuck in my head even though I don't speak a word of Icelandic. Later I found out that Daði Freyr was in the contest for Eurovision, so I guess that's why YouTube recommended him.

My question is this: if you're from a non-English speaking country, what are some of the cool musicians would you like to share with the world?

I'll start by mentioning Theodor Bastard. You might have heard them if you played Pathologic 2, personally I adore steppe version of Darkness from the OST
I'd like to also mention Nautilus Pompilius. They have been disbanded for a long time now, their lead lyrics writer had died and their front man does not deserve much respect now, but Летучий Фрегат (Flying Frigate) from the first album still gets me every time, even though it's not very good technically. I'll throw in Крылья (Wings) too

One is Антитiла (Antibodies). The one track I'm familiar with is Бери своє (Take Yours).

Then there's Океан Ельзи (Ocean of Elsa). Some of the tracks of theirs I like a lot are:

There's the rock band Gorky Park and their (well-known in Russia) Moscow Calling.

While not a local band, it's an Italian band covering a classic Soviet track: Zvenit Yanvarskaya Viuga, by Vanilla Sky, sung in Russian. You can hear, in the first few seconds of the clip, what the original sounded like.

There's also this track, by Die Magdalene Keibel Combo: an Eastern German band from which two members went on to form Rammstein. It's a German rock cover of a traditional Ukrainian folk song, Ти ж мене підманула (You Lied to Me). The cover is a fairly precise translation, though with a handful of liberties taken to ensure it works in the language.

    P. S.:

and their front man does not deserve much respect now

May I ask: what about Vechyaslav Butusov tells you he doesn't deserve much respect now?

Oh, and Otava Yo, as well!

I may be wrong, but he does not feel like a man who used to sing "Скованные одной цепью", he's way more of a government loyalist now.

St. Louis here. While I’m not in a non English speaking country I’d like to mention a few bands here that I think could use a bigger audience. My wife and I are fans of a bunch of local acts. Our favorite is Middle Class Fashion. They are an indie pop group with a lot of 80s vibes. We also like a group called Dubb Nubb. They are two two sisters that have a great indie riff going back and forth playing off of each other. Last but not least is Bruiser Queen, they are a rock duo that have some rockabilly/punk sounds going on.

Baton Rouge's Woorms was my first concert. Stoner sludge metal, heavy as hell. I was sold when they did a cover of Paper Cuts (Nirvana's best song imo). Stiff Upper Lisp and Racist Kevin are my favorite songs of theirs that I've heard so far, and they have a new album that I haven't checked out yet.

Check out a local band (to me) Railhazer. They might be right up your alley!

My favourite active Norwegian band is probably Major Parkinson.

    Heart of Hickory

    Euthanasia Roller Coaster

    Madeleine Crumbles

They sing in English though. My favourite band that sings in Norwegian was Kaizers Orchestra, although they retired back in 2013. I saw them live once, on their Maestro tour, and it's the best concert I've ever been to.

    Bøn frå Helvete (live)

    Knekker Deg Til Sist

Kaizers Orchestra sound really cool, thanks! Major Parkinson feels like a mix between Gogol Bordello and Tom Waits, good stuff too

    Oh lord... so many o.O

Lets get with classic jazz and Jan Johansson who was a classically trained musician playing jazz renditions of old folk songs https://youtu.be/t2D5HlKLh34?list=PLKUyqLlH6brkzzJgD6Gdriga4mdtCAMBJ , in this case "Visa från Utanmyra". That whole record is worth it though.
Then the more modern band Wintergatan, formed out of Detektivbyrån, who made a cover of the same song https://youtu.be/90UFsmesu4Y
Jaquee, a modern singer made a cover of the song (sadly the only link is from this shit old-person TV show) https://youtu.be/ZuIAg0Z4YGg (upshot, having a Black Swede singing a classic song got the racists heart attacks so - great cover + heart attacked racists = win)

Then you have the folk-band Garmarna who usually makes kind of cheesy nordic folksongs but started doing odd co-ops with other artists like this song "Ta dig över alla gränser" https://youtu.be/VwKGdVuyGDM ("Transgress all boundaries" OR "move over all (national) borders") since right wing idealist cultists really still think that they have some right to our past and ancestry they got really pissed about this song btw :D
The same band cooperated with Thåström (a classic 80s punk musician) and made the song about shared death called "Öppet Hav" ("Open Ocean") https://youtu.be/pF5I4GoaijU with a few beautiful lines like "We un-moor ourselves, we will reach our destination at the end - out on open sea" and "Will our memories remain if the waves take us? Never look back [towards shore] when out on the open ocean")

EDIT: was drunk, messed up formatting, removed formatting added naked links.
