There's something quietly spectacular about Zen by X Ambassadors, K.Flay, and grandson.

It's chorus refrain is "Gimme fuckin' zen", but it's not an angry song. Given its subject matter – losing oneself in the modern world, and interpersonal confusion, and pop-ization of art – it's almost upbeat: "Yes, things are tough. I'm confused, upset, and anxious. But... I recognize what's wrong. Maybe not the way out, but I know I want to get out, and that's enough to get me started".

There's also been some DJ Shadow: I finally took in that "Best Of" album, called Reconstructed, I've been looking at for a while. Half of those tracks are too melancholic for my taste. The other half ranges from songs I wouldn't mind hitting on radio during travel to songs I'm eager to listen to on repeat. Some of my favorites are Organ Donor, High Noon, and, of course, Building Steam With a Grain of Salt.

    Then, in no particular order:

Thanks to your link to that NPR show, I discovered J.S. Ondara. I'm now listening to his albums, he's got exactly the kind of raw folk sound that I absolutely adore. Thank you!

Been listening to more indie recently. I quite like Dreamland by Glassanimals, not a fan of their other music though.

Baths has released a new odds-and-ends album and remastered his previous, so.. a lot of that. Also, Sonnet by Benoît Pioulard. Really does feel like being enmeshed in nature.

Just my goto when things are stressful - Tears For Fears - Songs From The Big Chair. Still such a solid album after so many years later.

A lot of roots music. Been watching performances more than listening to music lately. I’d like to share some videos. https://youtu.be/7wimU5pxv6U https://youtu.be/iIIEhH7xOXg...

Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name Of seems like a good soundtrack for current events.
