What have you been listening to this week? You don't need to do a 6000 word review if you don't want to, but please write something! If you've just picked up some music, please update on that as well, we'd love to see your hauls :)

I've been listening to that Kero Kero Bonito song way too much, I don't usually like pop much but this one has some kind of depth that makes it resists my repeated assaults :

I also went back to Acid Witch's Witchtanic Hellucinations, it's a super fun horror metal album, I used to have it on a cassette and play in the kitchen while cooking :

That one from their second album is also super catchy : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCJCy6WIkSA
I'm back on that 90s and early 00s rap.. Lil Kim, Busta, Lil Wayne, etc..
I randomly ran into a video of Scott Storch playing piano, and then went down that Youtube rabbit hole. The guy made so many of the classic rap songs that I have always loved. His natural talent is impressive, and so is the fact that he blew $70 million on cocaine and cars. He seems happy now, and is still making good music. I am always wanting to get into some newer rap, but never know where to start, so I am going through his recent discography since I know I will at least like the beat.
Have you heard of Run the jewels? It's new music by guys from that era.
I have not. Thanks, that's some good shit so far.
Same song from the 00's stuck in my head, "Tjörn" by Björn Olsson (no lyrics just humming and a lovelly tune - really give it a go if you haven't heard it)

And another Swedish old tune (a folksong that cover after cover) "Visa från utanmyra" in this case covered by the odd folk-electronica-inventor set of Wintergatan. Beautiful (also no lyrics, you got this anglophones ;) )

I've mostly been listening to what I've been getting into these last few months. The album City by Strapping Young Lad is exemplary of this and I love it. Last night I was also giving the new album Of Truth and Sacrifice by Heaven Shall Burn a proper listening on my headphones. Previously I had just listened to it on the side in the car. Great stuff, but one song caught my attention I hadn't noticed previously: La Résistance. My mind is being boggled. This is the exact kind of music, a fusion of synth, bass, and metal - I can't quite describe it - that I've always been searching for but could never really find. The only other song that came close was Ausländer by Rammstein. I'll now actively look for stuff in this direction because it's exactly my thing. Would anyone happen to have any recommendations?
You might like Igorrr and his/their new album Spirituality and Distortion. it’s more breakcore than straight 808 electronic sounds but it’s the same idea of mashing up heavy guitars with electronic beats. Plus there’s accordion and harpsichord...? It’s a very strange band.
Listened to it just now, thanks for the recommendation! It was definitely interesting, loved some of the songs like Lost in Introspection, but it's not quite something I'll be blasting yet.
Finally got around to listening to the new Weyes Blood album Titanic Rising and I don’t know what took me so long, I see why it got the acclaim that it did. Real 70’s vibes with this one, like if you had put some tape hiss and maybe vinyl cracklings I wouldn’t have guessed that this was released last year. https://youtu.be/mvDlEaBJsmA
