I looked into this project because I kept noticing artists that I like on Spotify having an EP labeled as "(Inspired by 'The Outlaw Ocean' a book by Ian Urbina)" and was curious why so many of them were writing music based around the same book. A few examples of ones I happened across, linked to their page on the project's site:

There are almost 200 artists involved that have already released an EP as part of this project, and there are still more coming out, with the next set on October 9. It looks like you can listen to a single song from each artist on the site, and the full albums all seem to be available on Spotify (not sure about other streaming services).

I think it's a fascinating idea for a project, and it's neat to hear different artists using some of the same voice/audio samples in different ways, and even in wildly different genres of music. It's ending up as a nice discovery method for me by just listening to some of the EPs from artists I don't already know.

This is really cool! They're showing up on Google Play Music too, so I'm looking forward to diving into some of them.

This touches on two things I'm interested in: abuses carried out in international waters, and dope music. I'm more glad to be made aware of this book, to be honest. Maybe I'll buy the book and...

I'm more glad to be made aware of this book, to be honest. Maybe I'll buy the book and contribute some sounds, though...

EDIT: Went to mark it was a "to-read" on my Goodreads page, and noticed it had already been marked! Wow... I have good taste.
