What have you been listening to this week? You don't need to do a 6000 word review if you don't want to, but please write something! If you've just picked up some music, please update on that as well, we'd love to see your hauls :)

I just stumbled upon this track through a Spotify playlist: Cycles by Escape Mechanism. The track has fewer than 1000 plays and the artist has 20 monthly listeners on Spotify. It reminds me of the Avalanches; it seems to have sampled some interview and builds a song around the interview content in a really creative way.

I'm calling it early this week, because I doubt I'll be listening to much else this week. I listened to Aesop Rock's new album, "Spirit World Field Guide," and it's a great album. It leans less heavily on metaphor and deep references like the rest of his work, being a concept album. Some flows are new for him, and it's keeping things interesting. The whole album is an excellent change of pace from the rest of his work, and is quite experimental, while also being something of a return to form in some ways close to his older work.

Though I will this this face melter from Deslote, who leans heavy into their Japanese culture influence lyrically, is super good: Missingno. (177013). Referencing the super famous glitch in Pokemon to talk about a character who seems to think their existence is also glitch, not mean to actually happen. Deslote was a fairly small band earlier this year, less than 5,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. They've gotten 5x that now, so I'm hoping we get a lot more.
