... except I edited the cut of Foe Tha Love Of $ with Eazy-E to take out the awkward sex scene... I don't get why that is a thing, but it was easy enough to cut out seamlessly. :)

The soundtrack is incredible! Especially The Wind Can Be Still track - that song alone can cheer me up on even the worst days.

I’ve been wondering about the board game! How do you like it? Is it a decent two-player game? Better with more players? What’s the typical length of a game?

We’ve only played it with two players but are looking forward to when it’s safe to meet back up so we can try some four player rounds.

There’s a bit of a learning curve since there are a lot of different things at play. Everything is recognizable from the video game, so you’ll see farming, watering crops, fishing, mining, the museum, foraging, geodes, animals, and friends. You spend the game working towards a set of randomly drawn goals (e.g. reach the bottom of the mine, catch 2 legendary fish) as well as unlocking and completing a set of randomly drawn community bundles. Much like the game, it can evoke a “so much to do and not enough actions to do it!” feeling, but it’s overall still very much on the chill side. The game technically “ends” after a year on the last day of winter, but you can easily roll into a new spring season if you need more time and just keep going until you’ve fulfilled all the goals.

Overall though, we very much like the game. My husband is much more of a tabletop gamer than I am, so I think it has appeal to both more dedicated players like him and more casual players like me. We love that it’s co-op, and now that we’ve done a few rounds it’s a relatively smooth process. I think our first game came close to 2 hours, but now that we know what’s going on we can finish a round in around an hour (maybe a little longer).

I've been listening to a lot of Meteor lately. Meteor is a synthwave band (I think there's actually just one guy) which heavily features guitar. It combines some of my favorite sounds into one delicious music soup. There are a couple of different albums that I've had on repeat, with pretty different 'flavors'.

Defender of the Fleet is the soundtrack to Heatblur Flight Simulator's F-14 Tomcat expansion. It's got some very 80s sounds, obviously meant to evoke Top Gun. The guitar absolutely shreds.

System Failure is more 'Darksynth' but still with the absolutely ripping guitar lines. It's been on loop during work the last couple of days.

I've had two entirely unrelated artists pop up in my head without the ability to stop thinking about them, so I'm listening to the two albums that are stuck there:

    • Metallica - '...And Justice For All'
    • Beck - 'Midnight Vultures' (and a little bit of 'Guero', since I can't stop at one album)

Grew up listening to my Dad play Midnight vultures in car rides, so maybe it's a little nostalgic - but it's also definitely my kinda music! Very weird, but weird is Beck's shtick! Brings me back to when I saw Beck's set at Firefly back in like 2013 or so; the entire festival was awesome for the day that I was there.

As for Metallica, they're the band that got me into metal. I've strayed farther into the faster thrash contemporaries like Havok, Lich King, Gama Bomb, and Hazzerd, but I knew a reckoning was coming. I can't ever go too long without returning my roots. I wish the bass was audible on 'AJFA', I think the entire album would have benefitted immensely from turning that knob up :| (I feel bad for Jason Newstead too, I'm sure it was hard to follow up after Cliff)

I've been listening to These 13, the new collaboration album by Jimbo Mathus and Andrew Bird, whom I adore. Two highlights are Dig up the Hatchet and Three White Horses and a Golden Chain.
