What have you been listening to this week? You don't need to do a 6000 word review if you don't want to, but please write something! If you've just picked up some music, please update on that as well, we'd love to see your hauls :)
Feel free to give recs or discuss anything about each others' listening habits.

Spotify auto-playlist hath bequeathed unto me; Crumb. Locket and Ghostride are their two most popular songs, for good reason. It's exactly the vibe I'm looking for to relax, or to listen to on a lazy Sunday. Awesome artist that will be seeing a lot more time in my rotation.
Been making my way through some recent releases:
CHVRCHES’ Screen Violence. Only listened to it once so far, but I really liked it. I liked their last album, Love Is Dead, a lot more than seemingly everyone else, but even then, this album feels like a big step up from that.
Ben Platt’s (of Dear Evan Hansen) Reverie. This is his second solo album. His first album was heavy with traditional ballads, whereas this one is much more poppy and full of 80s synths. They’re both good in different ways.
Lorde’s Solar Power. Listened to it once and vibed with it a lot. Felt like a really chill summer album.
Halsey’s If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. Haven’t gotten to this yet, but I’m really looking forward to sitting down with it. It was produced by Trent Reznor and is supposed to be a bit of a departure from Halsey’s other work so far. Also the title is awesome.
Oh, shit. I didn't realize CHVRCHES had released a new album. Thanks for the heads up. I ❤️ them, so immediately jumped into Spotify after reading your comment. :P
p.s. Their Tiny Desk concert was amazing. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend checking it out. It really shows how amazing Lauren's raw voice is.
You weren't kidding! Her voice is such a standout, especially with how exposed it is in these arrangements.
Oh hey, I listened to three of those four albums (I don't know Ben Platt). I liked Halsey's album most, even though it's a bit different than her older stuff and I feel like there's less focus on her great voice.
The CHVRCHES album was nice, felt on par with the other stuff, didn't particularly stand out, but it's not a downgrade by any means.
I was let down by the new Lorde album, even though I was most hyped for that one (maybe because of that?). Felt low energy and I like it a lot less than her other two. No song really stood out.
I only listened to all the albums once, so my opinion might still change, but those were my first impressions :)
Looks like we're music taste twins!
And yeah, Lorde's newest album very different from her first two. I liked it for what it is and more than seemingly the rest of the internet (which seems to delight in hating it), though I admit that its conceit of "I'm a young beautiful millionaire enjoying island life" is definitely less relatable than what she's done in the past.
I'm not sure why, but that description got me listening to an artist I hadn't in a decade so I may as well add her (Nellie McKay) to the thread.
Something about the mood of this stuck with me, with the transition in this bit. Maybe I misremembered that section being more island-themed than it was.
It seems like she revisited the song after a decade as well in a cozy and candlelit solo.
Still not sure I understand the song. The second voice seems like an apologetic but antagonistic fate, or something to do with her relation with the public as an entertainer or society as someone with strong views.
The ending could just be an appeal to not fall for all the blame or rely on the applause (also listening to some ::M∆DE:IN:HEIGHTS::), but it comes across a bit tongue-in-cheek.
*I might have just wanted to make a "Lorde & Surf" pun.
I've been listening to Colors by Between the Buried and Me. I had a pretty hefty project I had to get done this week and it was nice being able to just listen to it on repeat.
The band Dizzy Mizz Lizzy released this epic 22 minute track that I can't recommend enough. Just wow.

I really enjoyed this tune, thanks!
No problem and I'm glad you did. They actually hit it big in the mid nineties with their self titled album with Silverflame as the big hit among other great tunes so that might be worth checking out too.
Finally Be'lakors long awaited single Hidden Window came out and I like it. Sounds a bit more like the older albums and I'm fine with that. Actually that's a good thing in my book. They remain top tier melodic death metal. Looking forward to the rest of the album.
Pretty good yeah, maybe not exactly the right term but "easy listening" comes to my mind haha.
Yeah I guess that's one of their strengths. They make "brutal" music easy to listen to.
Kunzite : Visuals LP dropped last week and its a very good album. I'm not a skipping a song all the way to the end.
Liars : The apple drop. A much better record than the one before that. Not as good as Mess or WIXIW, but a very enjoyable experience.
Both album are strong 8 in my book.
Dream Tröll and nothing else. My friend found them and recommended to me and I've been entranced. Realm of the Tormentor is so delightful all the way through.
