Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio - Close But No Cigar. Excellent funk-inspired jazz. Check them out in this KEXP performance

Debussy Piano Works performed by Phillipe Entremont. Entremont adds a beautiful shimmering crystalline beauty to these pieces.

The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute

    Thundercat - Apocalypse

Sufjan Stevens - Illinois I think this is his best album. It belongs in any best-of collection.

Newen Afrobeat - Newen Plays Fela. You can hear them peform here. They don't have many albums, but they are all (both) good.

I found out about them asking some dude at the bar what bands he would recommend while I was waiting for my then girlfriend to arrive. Unfortunately, they were the only suggestion of his that turned out alright.

Edit: Favorite song from then is "The Crowd" from their self titled album.
