So my watch patterns are 65% documentaries, 30% movies, and 5% TV shows/series (mostly whatever is suggested to me by friends). Series are generally watched during my lunch break because they fit in that time slot pretty easily. This week it has been giving the Arcane series a go. Love the art-style of the show, not sure I'm sold on the show itself, but the music is at least pretty stellar and fitting. Although I don't know if the music is great outside of watching the show. Not all soundtracks work when not watching the media itself.

I've been tearing through playlists and forums for a couple of weeks hunting good new music. It's an old bestof habit I get into around Decenber every year. I roll my faves into mixtapes. I've got two works in progress I'm not happy with yet but they are coming along... it's time I did an 80s and a 90s installment of Sounds Vintage to welcome those two eras into the club.

You can dive into the works in progress on my spotify as I tweak them. SV9 is more 90s rock and SV10 is 80s pop and newretrowave. I might even do four of them this time and make a grotesquely self indulgent radio show out of it. We shall see what themes emerge as I keep cratedigging. Lots of gold released this year and I'm just getting started. :)

Edit: if you have found some tasty 80s/90s throwbacks out there, or anything newish that sounds like it comes from an era pre-1995 I'm all ears and would be happy to check them out. ;) Bonus points for positive lyrics.

So far my favorite has been the new Alabama 3 release - Step 13. They haven't had a new album in a decade, it always makes me smile when a dead artist makes a comeback. You'll probably know them from the track Woke Up This Morning which was on The Sopranos. They have a lot more to offer than that one big hit, though.

Diablo Swing Orcestra's latest, Swagger & Stroll Down The Rabbit Hole is their best effort yet imo. Swing metal is such a rare bird. The track Snake Oil Baptism is a masterpiece, can't get enough of it.

Starcadian's latest, Radio Galaxy has two of the best newretrowave tracks I've heard yet, Culture and Cannibal Gods. It'll scratch your Daft Punk itch for sure.

If you like AC/DC, I imagine you'll love Goodbye June. I'd be willing to bet they'd be able to fool almost anyone into thinking they are AC/DC. :p

I'm still waiting for Youth Sector to drop their debut LP. They are truly the reincarnation of The Talking Heads and prove it again with every new single. They are going to get huge in the next couple years.

I also listened to Kid A period Radiohead, with the release of Kid Amenesia. Great stuff.
