Sounds like it might be similar to the recent mass shooting here in Ontario; Caused by paranoid delusions and untreated mental illness. :(
You'd be surprised how little damage the mentally ill can do when they have no access to firearms...
Eh... we have had a number of pretty horrific knife attacks by mentally ill people here in Canada. E.g.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Tim_McLean
But I agree that easy access to guns is a major factor when it comes to the frequency of mass shootings, and how much harm one person can do. And mass shooting are thankfully fairly rare up here in Canada due to our much much much stricter gun control laws than those in the US. But unfortunately due to our proximity to the US we still get a lot of illegally smuggled firearms getting sold and used to commit crimes up here, like the pistol used by the shooter in the story I mentioned in the previous comment.
Yeah... I don't like to localize myself online, but let me just say that events of that sort are almost historical where I come from. And we got a bunch of untreated batshit crazy people on the streets (inside as well). No guns though.
Maybe there could be a better way to deal with articles that change a lot after posting. Something like a change log like already exists for changes to the post itself.
What's wrong with just using comments?
I don't know. Maybe nothing? :P
Comments do most of the things I think an article update changelog like that would, but they also bump the topic so people can be informed of the update. So there is probably not a whole lot of reason to invent a totally new system for such a thing, IMO.
