And that's why people voted for him. "Finally, someone in our corner who the liberal elite can't say anything clever about! JUST OUTRAGE THEM." It's depressing to see how successfully that's working.

I tried to have a very polite conversation with a Republican friend about Trump's statement today and how the comment was very concerning, but instead of engaging me I was instead bombarded with a massive semi-hostile tirade featuring various standard talking points.
I honestly don't understand why so many people (regardless of political affiliation) simply won't open a dialog with you and have a proper discussion and/or debate on the topics at hand these days.

I'd place part of the blame on how the campaigns were run and the direction our country has been going in recent years. Both Trump and Clinton were guilty of painting anyone who voted for the opposition as an irredeemable enemy to all that their supporters know and love. That blind, rabid tribalism has only grown since the election, in large part because Trump (among many, MANY others on both sides) continues to spur on the sentiment that we are a nation that is divided into us and them and there is no point in trying to heal the rift.
Honestly, saying stuff like this makes him look guilty. Just let the investigation finish. If you aren't guilty, you can hammer the Democrats about wasting taxpayer money etc. If you are guilty,...

When I accessed the site from a mega-slow internet connection in the middle of nowhere, I got a prompt saying that's why. So basically, it's easy to conclude it's for both.

It's disturbing to think that our founding fathers formed this government directly opposed to this principle. It makes my blood fucking boil that he could say something like this.

Was reading the article and was completely dumbfounded by this particular quote: I'm honestly not sure what to say.

On ABC, Giuliani also said that the president's recollections about a statement he made about a June 9, 2016 meeting between top Trump campaign aides and a delegation of Russians offering to provide "dirt" on rival Hillary Clinton "keep changing."
It's funny, every headline from him always feels like he's trying to convince us that what he's doing is ok.
Maybe he's saying it so he convinces himself what he's doing is ok.

This very much. Let the involved authorities do their job before starting big arguments based on assumptions.
[Offtopic] Pretty damn cool how this site provides a text-only option that loads no scripts. It would be good if it contained pictures too, though.
It sure would, but the reason for the text-only site is for those who don't have broadband etc. so it's extremely low-data.
I thought it's to opt against tracking and other use of personal data. At least that's what their prompt says when you visit them for the first time
