Perhaps Bolton was replaced by a Westworld-esque host with a favorable point of view towards Putin?

Seriously though what could have been talked about that caused such a turn? Either the information Putin shared caused some puzzle pieces to slide into place in Bolton's head and that caused a reversal. Or Bolton was always favorable towards Russia and reversal was just revealing true opinions that were always there but hidden from public view.

Not sure which of these 2 (3?) options is most likely though.

      1. Kompromat on Bolton himself
      2. Common ground on Islamiphobia
      3. Putin showed his cards on Trump, and it was catastrophic
      4. Putin showed his cards on GOP kompromat in general

I doubt #2. It might be a thing that they share, but Iran is too important in Russia's sphere. It'd be a weird message to send. Unless Putin's influence on the US is even further than it looks....

Unless Putin's influence on the US is even further than it looks. Iran becomes a bit redundant if you had the most powerful military and economy in the world as a client state.

          I should have linked above.

In Russian politics, kompromat, short for "compromising material", is damaging information about a politician or other public figure used to create negative publicity, for blackmail, or for ensuring loyalty. Kompromat may be acquired from various security services, or outright forged, and then publicized by use of a public relations official. Widespread use of kompromat has been one of the characteristic features of the politics of Russia and other post-Soviet states.

edit: hmm, I did not see the same response from @EngiNerd due to the fact that I replied via my /unread. I wonder if showing other replies to the comment in your /unread for context would be good? @Deimos, any thoughts on that? Maybe just an indication that other replies exist?
