As important as North Korea is, remember that the "deal" from a few months ago was never really an agreement between the US and DPRK. It was just a photo op between Trump and Kim Jong Un, because both leaders believed the optics of a meeting would benefit them in their home countries.

The "deal" falling apart now isn't really unexpected news. It was inevitable from the beginning, just a question of when.

The cynic in me wonders if this latest "omg North Korea might be back to wanting to nuke us" drama is meant to distract from Trump's former campaign chairman and his personal lawyer both being convicted of felonies earlier this week.

I feel we are not making sufficient progress with respect to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula

Well... colour me surprised! I was sure that Chairman Kim was totally sincere in his desire to give up the weapons he spent a small fortune to develop and which are the only reason the rest of the world takes him seriously to even the slightest degree. Of course he was going to give those up! It's all China's fault. It must be!

If China isn't helping denuclearise North Korea because it's pissed off about the trade war with the U.S., and the U.S.A. fired the first shot tariff in that trade war, and President Trump is the one who pulled the trigger... doesn't that mean that this failure is ultimately Trump's fault?

FTSOF. Just how stupid is Trump, and how stupid does he think the rest of us are?

The tweet seems uncharacteristically diplomatic and well written. It doesn't strike me as off the cuff but rather advised upon and planned.
