Watching Ken Burns' Prohibition documentary a few months ago, I was struck by the political hijacking of alcohol as a polemical synonym for agendas far different than addressing the harmful impact of drinking, like preserving white, Christian dominance. In the 21st Century, most drug control disguises agendas for "control" of non-white people, particularly with respect to marijuana.

I would be very interested to see if drug liberalisation actually does become part of trade policies with both Mexico and Canada - marijuana is technically illegal in Mexico (largely to placate the USA), and fully legal in Canada recently.
