The question is whether or not his behavior will disgust a sufficient number of Senators to cost him the confirmation, and if so, whether Trump's next pick for Kennedy's SCOTUS seat will be even worse.
Why is their disgust a factor? How is being found to disregard the law - repeatedly - not immediate grounds for a disbarring? I know very little about American law, obviously, but it kinda seems...

I know very little about American law, obviously, but it kinda seems like the thing to do. Like I'd probably prefer a judge that I can trust to follow the law, idk.
Snarkiness aside, I'm genuinely curious why on earth it works this way.

<cynicism>Respect for the rule of law is for ordinary people. Having a seat in Congress means you're above such trivial considerations as long as you don't get caught cavorting with underage rent boys. Instead of caring about the rule of law or the general welfare, it's all about party loyalty and ideological purity.</cynicism>
It's already really close to the midterms to be holding confirmation hearings already. No way they'd have time to nominate a new judge, schedule hearings, have [redacted] document releases, hold...

While none of this surprises me in the slightest, how reputable a source is The Daily Beast? It's not a site I'm familiar with.
The Daily Beast is solid. They've only had one plagiarism scandal that I know of, and the person responsible was fired.
Just don't get them confused with The Daily Caller (run by Tucker Carlsen of Fox fame) or The Daily Wire (run by Ben Shapiro)
Indeed. You want the Daily Beast, founded by Tina Brown (formerly of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker).

Thanks! I appreciate the info. :)
