Seems really low, unless he really did give the Special Counsel a lot of info.

(Emphasis mine) Definitely way too low for deliberately lying to the FBI on a case of national importance.

Prosecutors had asked that Papadopoulos be sentenced to up to six months in federal prison and fined $9,500 for his crime, arguing in an August filing that his misstatements did deliberate harm to the investigation in its early stages and that his cooperation did not yield significant gains.

Agreed. I know it's a common thing to say, but I can't wait for documentaries on this to be released so we can play along in retrospect.

What kind of message does this even send? It seems like a joke. "If you lie to the FBI you go to jail for two weeks." I get that he agreed to help them, but... say that instead!

he needed to send a message about the seriousness of lying to the FBI.
