it's honestly miraculous that we don't have more Stephen Paddock-type mass shooters where their planning is advanced and technologically sophisticated, but realistically you probably don't even need to do that to inflict major casualties. pretty much anybody with an automatic or a semi-automatic weapon (or even just a gun that is able to discharge rounds quickly enough) could do the same amount of damage as this guy did just by standing at an entrance when people are leaving school or an event with lots of people and letting the bullets fly, and that's a terrifying prospect.
As a 911 Dispatcher, getting a call about a shooter is probably my biggest fear This just keeps happening but we do nothing beyond “thoughts and prayers”

Hard to believe how often these things are happening.

I actually thought it was the same article being posted over and over and over again. It's the one news topic that the USA just doesn't seem to tire of providing for the rest of us.
The Onion lightly edits and re-posts this same article every time there's a mass shooting.

Coincidentally, my workplace is having an "active shooter response" training session today. Yay.

Cue the lack of action from those in office.

‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens
For anyone unaware, The Onion lightly edits and re-posts this same article every time there's a mass shooting. Here's the Pittsburgh version: https://www.theonion.com/no-way-to-prevent-this-says-only-nation-where-this-r-1830073842
You can see a bunch of other ones down in the "Recommended Stories" section at the bottom.
