If so, will Canada’s system handle a Trump better or worse than the States?

This piece is dead-on. All of those things are presented factually and without details but they happened in those ways. Chris Glover is the federal MP for the NDP party (the most left wing party)...

Chris Glover is the federal MP for the NDP party (the most left wing party) but I'm surprised this piece is so relatively unbiased.

It's funny, usually around the holidays there's always the jokes and small forays into conversation about politics, but this past holiday season was different. None of the Conservatives in any of the small town families were happy with this government because none of them support Doug Ford.

What isn't stated in this article is that the Conservatives were always going to win. We just went through 15 years of Liberal power and people were done with them. But shortly before the election, the previous Conservative leader was ousted in a hell of a political scandal that still isn't quite resolved, and then the party had leadership elections. Ford won over all the other choices when the crazy anti-sex Ed cadre of the party had their candidate knocked out and then dumped all their votes into the next worst leadership candidate.

The Ford family are a disgrace. They are stupid, petty, loud-mouthed, and incompetent. His kneejerk and myopic approach to governance has been so bad, he managed to already piss off the federal Conservative party and lose a member of his own to Independence when he blindly cut down the support for French speaking Ontarians.

I expect Ontario will have some serious governmental problems within the next few years. So far, Ford's government has been working under the previous administration's setup which, despite all other issues, was functional and had policy plans in place. Once fiscal hits, and thus all the transitions he ordered get put into place, it will be very clear that his government only seeks to bluster with legislation but does not have the first clue about implementing policy not running an organization, let alone one as massive as the public service.

Thanks so much for your perspective. I’m Canada adjacent but not Canadian and it scares me that something like this could happen in Canada, which I always held to a higher standard for some reason.
