This one is about recent construction and deconstruction around the Taksim square in Istanbul, until recently the top touristic and political hotspot of the country. The current regime has been conducting an architectural crusade into the Beyoğlu (historical Galata & Pera), traditionally connected to the Christian / Levantine past of the city (unlike the claim of the article, which suggests it was mainly tied to the Kemalist secularism). Personally, I think that this is a continuation, a modern rendition of "Fetih", i.e. religious conquest. Building a mosque in a traditionally Christian quarter is a clear manifestation of this.
