    Yikes

I don't really have the time to go through the FBI document to see what was exactly being said, but it sounds like some of the terminology was appropriate - that is to say a group has targets and even potentially "victims", even if those "victims" are terrorists. I'd personally use another word given the connotations and my lack of sympathy, but that's just me.

HOWEVER, it sounds like the investigation was only launched after that member was stabbed at a protest by a neonazi/fascist/kkk member and the investigation was aimed at a victim, and that is just straight up fucked. I'm glad no action actually came out of their findings (perhaps they feared the political repercussions?) but it sounds like there's some serious issues with our law enforcement culture on all levels.

Yeah, this is extremely fucked up for a slew of reasons.

      The FBI’s Bamn files reveal:

      • The FBI investigated Bamn for potential “conspiracy” against the “rights” of the “Ku Klux Klan” and white supremacists.

      • The FBI considered the KKK as victims and the leftist protesters as potential terror threats, and downplayed the threats of the Klan, writing: “The KKK consisted of members that some perceived to be supportive of a white supremacist agenda.”

      • The FBI’s monitoring included in-person surveillance, and the agency cited Bamn’s advocacy against “rape and sexual assault” and “police brutality” as evidence in the terrorism inquiry.

How dare these leftists support checks notes not raping people! Let's shut this down guys.

This is just more in a long-history of US law enforcement targeting of leftist causes and down-playing domestic right-wing terrorism and the dangers of white supremacy.

This shouldn't surprise anybody. The FBI is a product of the Red Scare, founded by a closet case whose hard-on for leftists was only matched by Joe McCarthy. Furthermore, US law enforcement has always been about keeping poor people and brown people in their place. "Protect and serve" means protecting and serving rich white people in the US, and it has always meant that.
