There's a particularly insightful reddit comment here about the differences in unionization between Boeing's plants in the Seattle area and their South Carolina plants, and how that affects workers' ability to report safety issues.
This story reminded me of this older doc/investigative video about that Boeing plant. Lots of insider interviews, etc. I still don’t know what to think of the source exactly, but the piece seems to stand on its own.
I think it largely depends on which Al Jazeera you're talking about. The parent company, Al Jazeera Media Network, is run by a member of the Qatari ruling family and Al Jazeera (JSC) is state funded and has had its share of controversies. However, the now defunct Al Jazeera America and still operating Al Jazeera English, one of whom likely produced this report, were/are generally well regarded AFAIK.
But as you said, the piece seems to stand on its own, and the reporter behind it, Will Jordan, is an award winning London-based reporter. So take that for what it's worth, too.
Nice, thanks for all that info on them.
