Religious conservatives can opt their children out of sex education, but some are still protesting heavily against new guidelines.

When have religious conservatives ever liked knowledge that goes against their God's "teachings"? Honestly I'm a bit disappointed in California for letting anyone have the option of opting out. We took a harder stance on vaccinations, requiring them to go to school. I think we need to start taking education seriously and make sexual education mandatory for all students. This is important for the population's mental health and sex and gender are important parts of life that we are all exposed to and participate to some degree in.
