Rory Stewart is a posh boy ex-Sandhurst military type and not particularly inspiring. And Esther McVey is Theresa May wearing a latex mask.

Yeah. Whoever takes her place isn't going to be much, or even any, improvement. I have a sneaking and depressing feeling we'll end up with Dominic Raab or Boris Johnson.

Theresa May painted herself into a corner with her crazy brexit strategy of not discussing anything with other parties, but just setting down red lines and then playing a game of "Now you agree to my demands."

Her emotional reaction when giving the speech seems to suggest it's only now she's understood that her strategy was junk, would never work and was extremely reckless.

Just like these EU elections are a proxy vote on brexit, the conservative leadership contest will be a proxy vote on brexit.

It's almost like that's an indication that it may have been a good idea to put the negotiated deal to the electorate directly to normalize UK politics and refocus politics on policy, you know, the things that actually matter in our daily lives every day.
