Crap like this is so upsetting to me. I work in Information Security for a company with lots of federal clients. I've told my management before that I would be extremely uncomfortable with the company picking up any contracts from CBP or ICE and they have, so far, respected my wishes. I suspect because our CEO likely intended to run for office sometime after the next election cycle, knows I'm a bit of a bellwether for what the activist sentiment among Democrats is, and knows it wouldn't be a good look for him.
But I think the leftward shift of the Democratic Party has probably convinced him that he wouldn't have a shot if he tried (which might just put him in the top tenth percentile of self awareness among rich, older men) and he might just commit himself to going for the money. DHS is throwing a LOT of money around and a lot of it is in InfoSec. From a business standpoint one would be nuts not to go after it, but I'm definitely preparing to have to put my money where my mouth was if it happens.
The problem is, where to find a security job that wouldn't do this? I might just need to make a career change. . .
