I assume that he is referring to the "old FBI" as Comey era? The USA's 3-branch org seems utterly blind to a norm-breaking, authoritarian, legally corrupt President like Trump, doesn't it? I mean...

When white nationalist rhetoric is a vital part of amping up a political base, investigating that movement suddenly becomes partisan.

"I believe [FBI Director] Christopher A. Wray is an honorable man, but I think in many ways the FBI is hamstrung in trying to investigate the white supremacist movement like the old FBI would," Gomez said. "There’s some reluctance among agents to bring forth an investigation that targets what the president perceives as his base. It’s a no-win situation for the FBI agent or supervisor."

I assume that he is referring to the "old FBI" as Comey era? The USA's 3-branch org seems utterly blind to a norm-breaking, authoritarian, legally corrupt President like Trump, doesn't it? I mean that even without the last ~20 plus years of Congress defaulting to the President, it seems intrinsically setup to allow the president to be above law enforcement. I do see the reason you don't want a president to be controlled by law entirely, as law can be corrupted, see the post-Scalia Supreme Court.

I'm a US voter... the paragraph above is a problem, correct?

So for fun: what's a Constitutional Amendment that could address that issue with the least amount of unintended consequences?

edit: I mean the only reason that Muller did not indite was due to a 2000 Bush era DOJ memo, right? It goes back to Nixon, but the latest memo just reinforced it, right? Can the next Dem president just instruct his DOJ to override that memo, or is an Amendment really needed?
