New York passes legislation extending the party registration deadline from October 11th, 2019 to February 14th, 2020

@nygovcuomo:
Today I signed legislation to move the deadline for party enrollment changes to February 14. This law takes effect immediately. With this action, we continue working to break down barriers to the ballot box & encourage more people to exercise their right to vote. https://t.co/Wm5f5Iu7Ms

    It's not open primaries, but it's a long overdue step in the right direction for voters in NY.

    I’m not trying to be a dick, but the title is worded incorrectly isn’t it? Moving up implies it got sooner, and they in fact extended the deadline? Or am I misunderstanding (also completely possible)

      Yeah, you're right, my bad. Someone with edit privs can clean it up I'm sure. They extended the deadline by several months (to be more in line with the rest of the USA). I'd have linked to a news...

      I'd have linked to a news article but there aren't any yet, this just dropped. ;)

        It happens to all of us. I'm still haunted by the time I posted an article on reddit and accidentally referred to Charlie Baker as "the Governor of Boston" X( You're right though! This is hugely...
