    This is the same basic narrative we've seen over and over again regarding independent contractors. "Oh, they like their freedom!" Oh, businesses won't want employees, so the work they had will vanish!"

    I'm working with a number of businesses affected by this law, and you know what they're doing? They're putting people on payroll who had been contractors. You know why? Because the business still wants those people to keep doing the work. No one wants to see a sudden contraction in their business because they suddenly don't have sufficient labor to provide their service.

    From my perspective this is pure concern trolling.

        But that ruling only applies to contractors. My point is that nothing keeps the news companies from selecting the best of their current contractors and making them into staff writers.
