    So look.

What Trump does is outrageous on many levels. He lies to your face, he cheats, he bullies anyone who doesn't agree with him (or can't do something for him)... and that's just the abstract of the true depths Donald Trump is ready to sink to in order to get what he wants.

What I don't understand is... why is this still spoken of as if it's a new occurence?

I've come to understand the need to cover him at all: while he's an attention-seeking man-child, he's also the president of the United States, an important geopolitical entity. You do want to know what its leader is up to: analysis, accountability, prediction...

What I can't understand is – how come people haven't accepted his nature? He's spoken about as if he's a sane, emotionally-healthy human being, which he is not. He is, at the very least, a narcissist and a pathological liar.

It seems to me that those criticising him can't seem to accept that. They hold him to a standard he's mentally-incapable of holding to.

Maybe it's the fact that he seems generally normal when not behaving outrageously. He can play into a crowd, he can have you believe the mountain of gold he's promising. His superficial charm may be disarming.

I don't know what coverage about him should look like. It just seems wrong to me that all I keep hearing about him is "Trump does some stupid shit again", in a very serious context. I don't know if it's the fact that's all I keep hearing about, or is it that he still holds any legal power after being so atrociously full of shit for so long.

Maybe he should be covered like we cover children doing stupid shit.

"Timmy, age 6, can't seem to stop covering himself in mud and swearing at the passers-by as he does. Timmy's parents have spent the last two years visiting doctors, none of whom are able to determine the reason for such abnormal behavior. For now, the parents keep Timmy in after rains, and stick to known areas when going on a walk."

The problem with your complaint is that he is the president of the United States. Sure, you can summerize them all as "today Trump was a childish psychotic criminal asshole", but the fact that he's getting away with it all is absolutely newsworthy. We need as detailed a chronicle of his actions as we can muster less we make the same mistakes again.

Which is not to say that I'm confident that the changes necessary to prevent those mistakes from happening will ever be done, given the current state of congress.

I hope it doesn't come across as facetious to point out, but those lists wouldn't exist without sources such as the one OP linked.

nah, it's not facetious at all -- it is accurate.

It would be. It's not what's being reported on.

His poor behavior should never become so normalized we all ignore it. It's the President. His usual behavior is unacceptable. If people must be reminded of this every day, so be it.

This hasn't exactly been the effect. In fact, I'd argue that his bullshit being repeated over and over may have had the opposite effect. I'm outraged by his grandiose nonsense, and even I'm...

I'm outraged by his grandiose nonsense, and even I'm getting used to it by now.

My personal compromise solution has been to pay attention to articles about what Trump is doing. But headlines (and—in articles I'm reading—paragraphs) containing the words "Trump said ... ", "Trump tweeted ... ", "Trump complained ... ", etc, get skipped over.

It turns out, you can pretty much ignore every single word out of his mouth, or at least, everything he says for benefit of the media.
