    From the article:

Yang's campaign told The Hill that it is launching the effort after its application to appear on the primary ballot on March 17 was denied due to a bureaucratic issue, despite it delivering the necessary signatures needed.

The Ohio Secretary of State's office told The Hill that the issue with the Yang campaign's paperwork was that it did not include with its forms a statement from the candidate stating their intention to run.

That is a remarkably petty reason to block something. That's when you point out to the campaign that there was an error and let them fix it. It's not like they submitted the signatures for shits...

IIRC the deadline was the 2nd, so they might be unable to correct any errors. I also infer from the Ohio officials comments that it wasn't that the campaign neglected to include one form, it was that they neglected to include a statement from the candidate with each set of signatures.

The secretary's office said Yang's campaign failed to include the first part on the vast majority of their petitions.

“As Secretary of State, I'm duty-bound to follow the law, and the law is clear - when Ohioans sign a petition they deserve to know what they’re signing"

If that's the case, it's not an easy thing to fix. They would have to re-gather ALL the signatures.

All that said, I can't find where this is laid out in their petition requirements?? http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/3501.38

That's an important difference. If it's lists of signatures without any context... Yeah, that's much less reasonable.
