I know the WHO is applauding China for its transparency during the crisis, but a part of me can’t get rid of the suspicion that the true number is being suppressed, particularly in Wuhan which is in full lockdown. The timing of the Lunar New Year could not have come at a worse time.

Nonetheless, the reports seem to show a consistent doubling in cases every day, implying an infection rate comparable to pandemic influenza.

Edit: 102°F fever says 'flu, not a cold - definitely see a doctor, you might still be in the window where anti-virals will help you recover.

Part of the problem with the coronavirus outbreak detection was that the cases arrived right in the midst of influenza season. It's hard to distinguish the two viruses when they have virtually the same initial symptoms.

You are right, it is the flu! The doctor pretty much said the same thing regarding Coronavirus. I haven't travelled so I'm definitely not at risk 😂
