I still have no idea why she ran in the first place. Not to mention keeping her campaign going for this long. I, honestly, thought one day it would all come out as some elaborate joke.

Tulsi Gabbard is a grifter. She wanted to raise her national profile so that she could be paid to go on Fox News and bad mouth the Democrats after her term expires this year. She is not running for reelection to Congress as she is pretty universally reviled in her district and was clearly going to lose to her primary opponent.

What's funny is that she had all the fundamentals to have been able to do really well if she was just able to rein in the crazy a bit. But she tried too hard to appeal to the Fox News crowd and ended up making an ass of herself. I guess that's the risk of being a truly unprincipled weathervane. With no actual moral compass guiding you, you end up getting used and looking like a putz when you outlive your usefulness.

Compare her to someone like AOC, who actually has keener political instincts because she has a political agenda she wants to fulfill beyond just self-aggrandizement.

This sounds crazy, but it's true. She's part of a cult based in Hawaii which is trying to get members into politics, there and nationally.

Here you go. Tulsi Gabbard Had a Very Strange Childhood Which may help explain why she’s out of place in today’s Democratic Party. And her long-shot 2020 candidacy. - NYMag It is pretty well...

          Here you go.

It is pretty well documented and one of the first things I think most people that do any research into Tulsi come across other than her hindu nationalism, defense of authortarians, hate for Muslims, history of homophobia, and support from the altright.

They might have been stating it a little strongly, but this is a good article: What Does Tulsi Gabbard Believe?

She ran for the same reason any of those million and one candidates ran, any one of them could have been Pete Buttigieg or Klobuchar and come out of relative nowhere to win a bunch of delegates. Why she stayed in so long, when that clearly wasn't the case for her candidacy? Well now that's a very good question.
