    This is cute and all, but it seems more like a morale booster and PR stunt than something that actually helps. They could just put a TV screen up of recordings of Japanese TV shows; the garden...

    This is cute and all, but it seems more like a morale booster and PR stunt than something that actually helps. They could just put a TV screen up of recordings of Japanese TV shows; the garden eels won't know the difference.

      While I agree that its probably just a PR thing, I'm not sure the eels would be able to actually get much from a TV. I don't know much about eel eyes, but many animals have different cone...

      While I agree that its probably just a PR thing, I'm not sure the eels would be able to actually get much from a TV. I don't know much about eel eyes, but many animals have different cone structures and see colors differently. Not to mention it could appear to flicker depending on how fast the framerate is.
