While I agree that its probably just a PR thing, I'm not sure the eels would be able to actually get much from a TV. I don't know much about eel eyes, but many animals have different cone...

I don't know much about eel eyes, but many animals have different cone structures and see colors differently. Not to mention it could appear to flicker depending on how fast the framerate is.
