I do hope my state pushes this through as fast as possible. It will be a good precedent moving forward for other states.

Democratic state lawmakers on Tuesday began to unveil a sweeping bill aimed at increasing law enforcement accountability in Colorado by collecting racial profiling data, ensuring officers hold each other accountable and making it easier for the public to file lawsuits against police.

The measure, which could be introduced as soon as Wednesday, also would beef up how law-enforcement involved deaths are investigated, prevent problematic officers from moving to different police departments and sheriff’s offices, and require agencies to use body cameras while giving them guidelines on how and when to release footage.

I do hope my state pushes this through as fast as possible. It will be a good precedent moving forward for other states.

Edit: Nevermind, this appears to be completely different legislation. The one I linked below was to grant the AG authority to instigate “pattern-or-practices” investigations of police and sheriff offices in order to clean them up, and to financially assist cities/town in implementing independent monitoring programs. Both being enacted would be better still though, I guess.

Yeah, this is awesome to hear that they are taking it seriously. I have been trying to make people aware of this legislation as a potential path forwards for a few days now.
