After reading this piece, I was struck with thought, "where will we be six months from now," and by "we" I mean white people like myself. We'll have the option to fade away and go back to a pre-covid world. Will we care enough to stand if things don't change, and we have other things to do.

If police want to attack "rioters", then make them come within arms' reach. Make them run the risk that they might look their targets in the eyes and see their humanity.
It's also way too easy for them to justify using teargas, but it's much harder for them to justify having to beat the shit out of people, especially when there is video evidence of them doing it to peaceful protestors.
