Kanye seems to me like a kamikaze candidate. Trump doesn't need to go after Joe if Kanye does it instead!

If he actually manages to file paperwork, I think this elevates American politics to level 2 cuil?

ON HIS PREVIOUS SUPPORT FOR TRUMP

“Trump is the closest president we’ve had in years to allowing God to still be part of the conversation.”

    ON HIS MAGA HAT MOMENT

“One of the main reasons I wore the red hat as a protest to the segregation of votes in the Black community. Also, other than the fact that I like Trump hotels and the saxophones in the lobby.”

    ON HIS FOREIGN POLICY

“I haven’t developed it yet. I’m focused on protecting America, first, with our great military. Let’s focus on ourselves first.”

    ON DEVELOPING POLICIES

“I don’t know if I would use the word policy for the way I would approach things. I don’t have a policy when I went to Nike and designed Yeezy and went to Louis and designed a Louis Vuitton at the same time. It wasn’t a policy, it was a design. We need to innovate the design to be able to free the mind at this time.”

He didn't actually study tax policy or international relations. He said he still needs development on those areas, and while it's honest, this makes this entire campaign seem very unpromising. As for the idea of the birthday party, it's probably another name for running independent. Everything on vaccines makes me really question how Kanye will go about medical policy and how much he will prioritize supplies when he thinks they are "satanic". As for toothpaste, he's clearly talking about fluoride and pineal calcification. This prompts me to think he is even deeper in conspiracy culture.

@ThatFanficGuy at least you've got you wished for. :)

That he’s running for president in 2020 under a new banner—the Birthday Party—with guidance from Elon Musk and an obscure vice presidential candidate

@ThatFanficGuy at least you've got you wished for. :)

To be clear: I didn't wish for anything like it to happen. However, in case it did happen, I would want to be first in line to see what, how, and why the hell is going on.

I'll sidestep the question of would/wouldn't the US government be willing to do this, and ask instead: would you see them gaining anything specific (and worth the inevitable backlash) by implanting chips rather than just using fingerprints/facial recognition/gait recognition/any other combination of noninvasive biometrics to track people?

It's less the government I'd be worried about, and more the private industry that gates the vast majority of income. And they do have a solid interest in doing so...retail workers could be chipped so they can't carry their phones but still be easily tracked and that sort of thing. I have yet to see a case of lessening workforce surveillance.

And from what I've seen, once one employer does a thing and shows any benefit from it, others will do so quickly.

Remember this article? Banning from being mandatory can be skirted around easily by only providing bonuses to people who do the implant.

To top it off, thanks to our wonderful surveillance state, if the companies have the data, the government can get it too if they want it.

That's completely fair, and if these laws have teeth long term, I like it. But at the same time....a very basic good law like the Voting Rights Act got gutted so who knows what the future holds.

I don't expect him to actually put together anything substantial for this election, but I also don't think this is just music promotion. He mentioned he'd give his album away for free; usually I'd be skeptical but it's in line with other stuff he's said long ago and he's at the financial point now where he can deliver on that. I think he is serious about wanting to be president, if not necessarily the pesky politics bit, and my guess is he'll probably end up looking to 2024. He's seen Trump win as an outsider and he thinks that he can do even better (because why not, he's Kanye the visionary).

As to the mental health bit, that's so overarching with Kanye now that it's hard to dismiss what he does during his episodes because he doesn't walk anything back afterward. He does seem to think he's going through some sort of transformation/development as a person, and the religion piece is clearly a major ingredient.

There was one thing he said in the interview that's particularly important, especially given the current zeitgeist, but I want to see if it resonates with anyone else rather than pointing it out myself.

His latest single already dropped off the charts.

I used to be a huge Kanye fan and still love his old stuff. I didn’t mind the trump comments but nowadays it has just been so much bullshit that i can’t really stand it. I didn’t even know a new single was out and I listened to his new album probably like only once.
